Meet the adelaide family law team
At Adelaide Family Law, our experienced and helpful legal team are committed to providing our clients the highest level of legal representation. Our experienced team of solicitors gives each case the personal attention it deserves and recommends different strategies and courses of action, depending on your specific needs.
Lisa Gough – Principal Solicitor
After studying law at the University of Adelaide between 1984 and 1987, Lisa worked as an Associate to His Honour Justice Walsh of the Supreme Court in WA for 2 years, completed her degree and then undertook an article clerkship at Phillips Fox in Perth where she gained valuable experience in Commercial Litigation, Insurance, Property and Family Law.
Since 1995 Lisa has worked solely in the area of Family Law both in Queensland and South Australia in both children and property matters. She is skilled at assessing her clients’ needs and has experience in dealing with domestic violence allegations and issues arising from changes made to the Family Law Act (1975) in the past few years regarding shared parental responsibility and shared care arrangements. Her commercial experience has allowed her a unique insight into the financial aspects of separation and she has significant experience in managing large property settlements and complex matters.
Lisa is proud to say that the majority of matters she deals with settle amicably with the assistance of alternative dispute resolution and negotiation. However, when it is necessary to continue through to the trial stage she is able to provide a very efficient and cost effective service.
Preeta Kaur – Solicitor
Preeta Kaur is the newest Adelaide Family Law team member, joining in April 2022 as a Solicitor. Preeta works on parenting matters, divorce applications and property settlement matters. She works closely with the Firm Principal, Lisa Gough, on more complex matters.
Admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of South Australia in 2014 and in the High Court of Australia in 2021, Preeta has a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Adelaide and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Adelaide.
Preeta has an empathetic nature and a strong desire to help, which combined with her excellent negotiation skills and family law knowledge, makes her an integral part of the team. Her aim is to make the process as stress-free as possible in what is a difficult time in a person’s lives.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time at the gym and with her two beautiful dogs.

What some of our clients have to say:
“The team at Adelaide Family Law were fantastic in helping me deal with my property settlement. I had Lisa as my solicitor and she was honest and straight to the point with her advice and provided realistic expectations. I was able to come to an agreement with my ex within a couple of months and it cost me a lot less than I expected in legal fees.”
